In March 2021 there are now thirteen small-scale mining companies operating in Sierra Leone. In January 2018 there was only one industrial gold mine operating in Sierra Leone. In March 2021 there are nine industrial Gold mines (6 small-scale and 3 large-scale) operating in Sierra Leone.
Note that in Sierra Leone, development of such structures around gold mining areas is in their initial stages, and further research is needed to investigate the actual extent of these developments.
